Leadership Quickie

What can you say you have done that matters?

  1. I live every day in an intentional way.
  2. I laugh on days I wanted to cry.
  3. I love because that is all that matters.

Be genuine in your leadership to our world. Do it because it matters to others. Do it because the only thing that truly matters in the end is love.

Wake up every morning ready to give and to love.

Talent is in our DNA

We come to this world equipped with talent embedded in our DNA. It says so in Matthew 25:14-30. This is the well known parable about talents entrusted to man. One servant is given five and multiplies his lot. Another is give two and multiplies those. The other is only give one and proceeds to bury it so it is not stolen. The later is chastised for his abuse of the talent.

Each of us has at least one talent to multiply. The key to doing well is using that talent. I will reveal what that one talent is at end of this blog post.

Some are predisposed to have big talents like music, writing, and art. These are talents that are expressive in nature and tend to show up more often. We are able to recognize these types of talents.

Truth is… most of us meander through life never locating our talent. This can be frustrating. You want it so you can use it and yet you can’t find it. How do you locate something so elusive?

Here are three ideas to help you uncover what you have been searching for, and if you still cannot find that talent I am going to reveal that one talent that everyone has and is easy to find and use. Stay tuned.

Think – Think back to when you were young. What did you like to do? What hobbies did you have that excited you? What came easy to you? Many times we have actually used our talents when we were young and forgot all about them in adulthood.

Meditate – Find a quiet place to clear your mind, close your eyes, and play pictures in your mind about things you see yourself doing in the future. I call this Your Perfect life. Visualize clearing what you are doing five years forward.  You may just uncover your talent.

Ask – It wouldn’t hurt to ask others what they see as your talent. It’s kind of like standing in front of a forest. Sometimes it’s hard to see the beauty of the trees until you step back and take a better view. Your family and friends may see what you don’t.

When you find your talent hold on to it, caress it, mold it, and cherish it. This means you need to practice using your talent. You may try and not get very far with your talent at first. Never quit. Keep using your talent until you get excellent using it. As I always told my kids, “If you want to be good at something you got to practice, practice, and practice some more.” This is the key to unleashing the power of your talent.

Now, if you seek and do not find your talent do not fear it is near. Everyone is born with this talent that I am about to share with you. All of us have it and need to accept it, use it, and give it away.

This talent is love. Love is the gift that keeps on giving, NOT DIAMONDS.

Go use your one talent of love. Do not bury it, keep it to yourself, or deny it. If you are faithful and use love it may just multiply and you will find another talent, then you will have two.
