Edge-a-mick-ashun!!
Are books and words all our children need for success? They are certainly a main staple for success in life. I would never discount the value of words, smarts, and learning. And pulp and paper are not everything that counts toward a real life education. Think deeper…
What about street smarts?
What about common sense?
What about giving back?
What about tolerance?
What about planning and leading?
What about acting on your dreams?
See there are many things that a simple book cannot accomplish. These things take care and coaching from people who have been around the block.
I believe the best lessons in life come from trial and error, from pain and lessons learned, and from those that have travelled the tough roads of life before us. Mentors and models matter. They act as guides and seers to the best road forward so that we find ourselves truly living our dream. These people may even be you and I.
Keep striving for “No child left behind” and then roll up your sleeves and engage our children in the realities of the world. Reality is… they will need to plan, act, and adjust so that their vision of success comes clear.
When their vision meets up with repetitive action, learning from doing, and adjusting their course then they are truly edge-a-mick-eighted. If you go deeper then pulp and paper and engage the visual mind of a child their chances of becoming who they dream of has a much better chance.
The right mental attitude matters in life and so does action. We can dream, think, plan, get coaching, align the stars, and do all sorts of busy work in preparation for success and the only thing that really matters is action. Action is the energy that drives improvement, change, and a life fulfilled.
