Fear is your enemy… defeat him!!

The truth is we can see the future. We know exactly what we want out of our life. It is clear as day. Well… for most of us.

As an example: I see myself on stage speaking to and inspiring thousands. I have always seen that in my mind. You might call it my perfect life. Oh to do that. Now that would be pure nirvana. So, why do we dream instead of do? It’s a fair question and I have a theory.

It may not be a popular theory and it is only mine. You decide. My theory is we are locked up (jailed) by fear. Fear is a powerful imagination that acts as a jailer. Fear keeps us confused, unable to move, cautious, and right where we are today. And fear doesn’t even have even use bars and key to keep you locked up… it is all in your mind.

For some of us we have no fear at all. We thrive on conquering fear. You see this in people who scale mountains, jump out of airplanes, and do risky things in life. They have confidence in their ability to survive and so fear never conquers them. They remain free from the jail of our mind.

If this need for thrill seeking is not in your DNA then what? Then you will need to deal with fear.

Think of fear as an army inside your mind. Their goal is really to keep you safe. Fear is keeping you safe by causing you to doubt your decisions, leaving risk alone, and lowering your self-confidence. Seems like a survival and protection mechanism that has been place inside of us over time. The trouble is… by keeping you safe this army of fear is actually working against what you really want. Thus ensues a battle of the mind.

To overcome it will take work. It will take repetitive work.

It all begins with a decision. The decision you need to make is to stop allowing fear to keep you jailed. I made my decision many years ago by simply putting fear on notice. That notice included a physical letter I wrote to General Fear and let him know that he was done, finished, through robbing my freedom and perfect life. I was ready to do battle to destroy him.

After you make your decision you will need to tend the garden. I say tend the garden because fear will come back. He doesn’t listen well and seem to have a one-track mindset. That mindset says, “Keep (insert your name here) safe.” Use affirmations to keep fear in check. Here is one you might use.

“I am living the life I always imagined because fear is dead.”

Or, use your own. It is only an idea.

These are anchors that help you stay focused on your perfect life and not on fear. Other anchors are good books, blogs, mentors and coaches, and accountability groups or partners.

I would really like to here how you keep fear away.

Finally, you can keep fear away by journaling about him. Write as if you are having a conversation with fear. What would you tell him? Sounds crazy and it works.

Be your best weapon and take on the jailer of your mind… fear.

Watch out for twisters

This is a tornado warning. Beware the twister that sucks you in and taints your good attitude, your smile, and your happiness.

Tornados that have this capability are around us all the time. They tend to whip up at a moments notice. These tornados will appear in the form of the nightly news, daily headlines, co-workers, parents, teachers, and people in general who spout nothing but doom and gloom. These tornados are bad for your mind, heart, and soul. Avoid them at all cost.

We will name this tornado Victim. Victim wants you to get close and be sucked into their lie. Victim feeds on negative talk, bad news, and low self-esteem. Victim wants to feed on you. Those who live in this tornado want to steal your art and talent, bring you to their level, and jail your mind. This is a downward spiral of nothingness.

Here is how the Victim tornado works.

You watch the nightly news. Everything you watch is based in fear or tragedy. That is what sells the news. These are little pixels of Victim reaching out and programming your mind for failure.

You go to work and listen to co-workers ramble on about their bad day, their bad luck, or listen to them point fingers at others to make themselves feel more important. Listen to their tone dive into a lather of dispair. Watch their body slink. Look into their eyes and you may quite possibly see bars in the retina of their eyes that have their mind jailed.

You are bombarded daily with negative people, words, and actions.

These are Victim tornados spinning all around you. They are spinning close to you. Don’t jump in. Avoid that tornado. Run away as fast as you can and…

Jump head long into a different tornado. This tornado is named Visioneer. Inside of Visioneer live light, good attitude, good fortune, positive thoughts, and happiness. This is the tornado you want to get sucked up into.

If you have been sucked into Victim and need to escape, there is hope. The first evidence of hope is that you recognize the need to bail out of the darkness. And here is how you can do just that…

Grab a spot where it is quite and you will not be disturbed and a sheet of paper. You are going to engage in the “Gratitude Exercise.”

Ask yourself, “What am I grateful for in life?”

Capture everything you can think of on that sheet of paper. This begins a positive thought pattern and opens a vein of gold inside your mind. You are now aligned to goodness and not the darkness of that tornado named Victim.

After you are done writing everything you are grateful for in life on that sheet of paper, read it out loud to yourself, let the images burn into your conscious and sub-conscious mind. Feel the emotions of knowing you do have things to be grateful for in life.

Now…

Fold up that sheet of paper and put it in your purse, your wallet, or where ever you can get to it daily. Every time one of those Victim tornados begins to whip up and spin next to you that sheet of paper is your sword to fend off any Victim who acts to infect your life with doom and gloom.

Be happy and prosper. You are powerful beyond measure. Live the life you were intended.
