Three by Five Success System

The right mental attitude matters in life and so does action. We can dream, think, plan, get coaching, align the stars, and do all sorts of busy work in preparation for success and the only thing that really matters is action. Action is the energy that drives improvement, change, and a life fulfilled.

I would like you to do this… Close your eyes and ask “What do I want to accomplish, be, do, or have this year?”

This may sound a lot like that movie “The Secret.” In some ways the first step is like that movie. First you ask and then you create the energy to make your vision happen. Remember, energy is action and no action creates stagnant minds and lives.

Ask the question above. Write it down on a piece of paper, in your journal, on the computer, or on a 3×5 index card. What ever works for you is best.

Your entire intention for the year is to create energy to realize what you just wrote down. The energy you need is in the power of the 3×5 card. I use this and it works. It has worked for my daughter and others in the workplace.

Every day you read your intention statement for the year. Then you write down on that 3×5 card three key actions you will take today to get you closer to realizing what you intend. Next, be intentional about acting on those three items you wrote down.

Do this every day for a week and you will have taken action 21 times, a month 90 times, a year 1095 times. If you did this for a year, how much closer to living your life’s dream would you be? If you wait a year to start creating energy through action will you have wasted? And the trouble with time is that it is gone forever.

Be a doer and not just a planner. I stand by the 3×5 success system. It is simple and it works if you allow it to work. All you need is your mind, a stack of 3×5 cards, a pen, and the will to act every day.

365 day of intentional action

Isn’t it amazing how our world gives us just what we need right when we need it?

This “Minute with Maxwell” coaching moment was perfect timing. John Maxwell called out my failing in a beautiful way, by asking what I intent today. It was like a frying pan to the head wake up call moment.

The truth is we can drift into complacency in our lives at times. When the heater of our mind is comfortable motivation for change lies dormant. What we need to do is turn off that heater and let the temperature of our mind and soul become uncomfortable. That is the moment motivation wakes, inspiration calls, action begins, and change happens.

Where is your temperature set? Are you still failing forward?

Grab a 3×5 index card. Index cards are the best success system I have ever found. Write at top of the card:

“Today I will be intentional about”… and write one thing that you will do today to move closer to what you have been ignoring. If you will do this every day for a year you will have acted on 365 intentions. Do you think 365 accomplishments toward your life’s dreams or needs will be better for you then slumbering under the comfort of your inner temperature.

Get uncomfortable! Get intentional! Get started acting on your goals and dreams!

Several years back, John Maxwell was my voice and words of inspiration. He helped me get off the couch of life and begin moving where I intended.
