Success is about paying it forward

Every now and then we need to recharge our batteries. This is my weekend to go do just that. And before I head off I wanted to write about giving.

Imagine…

You made a choice to really go for your dreams in life. You decided today to live your dream instead of allowing life just happen to you. Today (right now) you made a conscious choice to be, do, or have what you dream of and have dreamed of for so long.

Now…

Bound five years forward.

Dateline: April 13, 2017

You are living your dream. You planned, took action everyday, adjusted along the way until you arrived at your definition of success and the life you dreamed of on April 13, 2012.

What do you have? Who is around you? Where do you live? What do you do?

All great questions and not the right questions. Sure life is about getting what we desire and it is about so much more. Life is about giving. If you go get all the things you dream of and forget to give back you never really completed 100% of your dream.

If you are smart enough to think it, choice it, work for it, and live it, you are obligated to help someone else do the same. That is what I believe. I do not believe we work in a vacuum. We need others to help us find our way and to live our dreams. It is rare when we do it alone if at all.

So visualize five years forward. You have it all. You are living the  life you imagined on April 13, 2012. Now, what would you give back to the world when this comes true. It doesn’t have to be money. What you give might be bigger than that… so share.

What would you give back on April 13, 2017 and why is that so important for you?

Silence the Rain

I’m sitting here at my computer listening to the rain outside my window. The dreary drizzle got me thinking about the rain we allow inside our good mind.

The rain in our mind shows up as fear. It shows up as doubt, uneasiness, guilt, and negativity. None of these conditions are any good for our mind. They act as stop signs to progress.

When we intend to be proactive, positive, and set out on a new venture, sun shines bright inside our mind. Suddenly, dark clouds form and the rain falls on our good intentions and positive thoughts. This happens to me on occasion. I wonder… does it happen to you as well?

Sure, it’s good to know it happens. Awareness just may be the prompting that helps us realize our storm and shift focus to sunshine. And awareness without corrective action holds no power. The power to stop the rain comes through action.

Here are a few action steps you might consider.

  1. Race past the rain. By this I mean to propel your mind forward to when the rain has stopped. What does it look like, are the flowers bloom, or the sun peeking through those storm clouds in your mind. See the future.
  2. Scratch the rain gauge. Tony Robbins uses this as an example of breaking a negative pattern in his famous Personal Power program he sold some years back. Right in the middle of your rainstorm, think of smiley faces falling instead of rain, each one yelling happy messages goodness. Go wild and be crazy. Sometimes the rain in our mind grips us with such force. Scratching the rain gauge or breaking the pattern may be just what you need to refocus on the positive.
  3. Phone a friend. This one is a good one. If you have a friend or an accountability partner who you trust use them. They can help you see past the rain to the bloom garden of goodness for your mind. This might even be a life coach or mentor.

Those are three powerful methods for curing the rain blues that drip on in your mind and causes dark and dreary thoughts and days.
